Sport & Physical Education (PE) at Framework Federation:

AT Framework Federation, our vision is to develop active, healthy learners. We strive for our children to be the best they can be physically, emotionally and socially.  We enable, extend, enrich and enjoy sport. We have a culture of physical activity across the federation, promoting active learning throughout the curriculum.

Our schools work in partnership with Highfields School, Matlock, and compete alongside and against other primary schools in the Matlock Cluster, often with much success.  We are also affiliated with the Rural Derbyshire SSP, where we attend participation festivals as well as competitive events, accessing the pathway to elite sport.

We hold regular inter-house competitions and use Lea Green Learning & Development Centre for termly outdoor pursuits.

All year groups from Year 2 to Year 6 are given the opportunity to experience a residential visit, encouraging outdoor education even further. Our residential visits include Lea Green and Whitehall Education Centre.

Throughout their time at Framework Federation Schools, children will develop fundamental movement skills, such as agility, balance and co-ordination, through a series of stimulating and sequential lessons. Our PE curriculum is inclusive, ensuring pupils of all abilities access physical activity and sustain healthy, active lives.

Mr Lee leads the Sport Curriculum across Framework Federation Schools.  We work in partnership with Rural Sports Derbyshire, enter many sporting competitions - often with much success!  We also hold regular inter-house competitions and use Lea Green Learning & Development Centre for termly outdoor pursuits for all children from all 3 schools.

All children in KS1 and KS2 are provided with 2 hours of curriculum PE time a week, forest schools, plus opportunities to engage in extra-curricular PE and sport. In addition to this, we encourage active playtimes and active lunchtimes to ensure every child is getting their recommended 60 minutes of activity per day.

All pupils in Years 3 and 4 attend weekly swimming lessons. All children meet the governments' minimum requirement for swimming ability by the end of Year 6, and almost all children are very confident swimmers. We have several pupils who swim for local clubs. We take part every year in the local schools' swimming gala with much success.

All year groups from Year 3 to Year 6 are given the opportunity to experience a residential visit encouraging outdoor education even further.

We also employ many experts in the field (peripatetic sports coaches) to assist with our PE lessons - Derbyshire County Cricket Board, gymnastics coach and dance specialists.
